Instagram post 2191646396516310312_8344494061 With the new year right around the corner, and untethering coming soon, many providers are quickly ramping up their capabilities. Having the right equipment for the right job is is incredibly important, and whether you are building out your grow or extraction facilities, Planet-3 can help identify the equipment you need and can source and even help install any specialized equipment needed.
•
Whether you are looking to revamp your grow and are looking for a new plant watering system or if you are building your own extraction facility and need help with ordering and finding the right fractional or simple distillation system. New pieces of technology like the fantastic Blumat system that can constantly provide any non-hydroponically fed plants with exactly the amount of water they need without manually watering each plant. Or if you are buying a new short path system, many forget that the turn-key systems offered off the shelf by many manufacturers are actually not as effective or as modular as building a system that can grow as your business grows. These turn-key systems will actually cost you more money in the long run as compared to ordering the individual parts and designing the system you actually need.
•
So don't forget this winter, if you need assistance with finding, sourcing, or installing your new equipment, let Planet-3 help you out and make sure you have what you need.

Instagram post 2176390982581142764_8344494061 Cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome, or CHS, is a little known affliction that affects a small group of cannabis consumers. CHS presents as a loss in temperature regulation over one's body and intense vomiting. This syndrome has been linked to high amounts of cannabinoids in the bloodstream interacting with the TRPV1 receptor, also known as the capsaicin receptor. An article by Leafly explored the connection between neem oil, one of the most prolific pesticides in the cannabis industry and its link to the little-understood disease.
•
Do you think CHS is a result of allergic reactions to the neem oil, or just that some people can not process very high amounts of cannabinoids efficiently in their body?

Instagram post 2170615209463270039_8344494061 Although widespread bans have swept through the US, there are still real studies that show the toxicology of some of the formulations in the e-cigarette market are safer than their cigarette counterparts. These studies are of specific chemicals used in vaping and their constituent chemicals used in the formulation of the cartridges. One of the chemicals used was Propylene Glycol and was shown to have “very little to no toxicity” and also showed a small to moderate risk of allergic reactions. Also, many legally produced vaporizer Recreational and medical industries have been providing safe and regulated vaporizer cartridges from cannabis using the proper solvent and solventless methods to extract and concentrate the cannabinoids and natural VOC from the flower. Studies also found that “Vaporization of cannabis is a safe and effective mode of delivery of THC.” Yet illegally or unscrupulous produced cartridges are killing children and adults at an alarming rate, it is why it is so important to crack down on the illegal and hostile actors and at the same time bolster the legal and regulated market. There are real health benefits over smoking, but the thing that will kill this industry is lack of regulation and uninformed legislation in safe industry standards.

We talk more in-depth on the Montana e-cigarette ban and vaporization in our latest Original Content piece, up now on our website. What do you think of this situation and how it's being handled?

Instagram post 2166266175147556410_8344494061 Yesterday, the White House approved the USDA Federal Hemp Production Rules; this 161-page document outlines all of the different minutiae pertaining to hemp (Cannabis Sativa L.) that were lacking in the 2014 and 2018 Farm Bill. This new piece of legislation, to take effect in 2020, re-outlines a bunch of old requirements like the 0.3% limit on THC and also defines new restrictions and clarifies old ones.
•
One of the first big changes this new piece of legislation will enact is it will make any grower that grows a crop above the 0.3% THC limit required to dispose of the entire crop. Under the law it says this disposal is supposed to be handled by local, state, or tribal LEO, but how are local and state law enforcement agencies supposed to destroy potentially 100’s of acres of “Hot Hemp”? This law also makes the farmers criminals; if their hemp tests above 0.5% THC by dry weight. With the uncertainty of growing season and depending on the cultivar of hemp being grown, the amount of cannabinoids produced can change drastically. When a grower has a crop that tests above the 0.5% THC, it is many times not the fault of the grower, but the fault of the cultivar not having the same phenotypic expression that it was sold as. The new law also does not put any of the onus on the seed company to test the phenotypes of the strains they sell and see how each strain presents in different locations. This new law is going to make it very difficult and even legally dangerous to grow all but the lowest cannabinoid-producing strains of hemp. We should not be criminalizing our hemp growers for having a hot harvest. Is the disposal of an entire crop not enough for the feds?

Instagram post 2164768295672992849_8344494061 Are you introducing some new infused products for the holiday season? Even if you have your recipes down, we can help you get your procedural documents dialed in as well. We are entering edible season and with the production of new edibles and infused products, the process in which you create, track, and ensure production standards is vital to creating safe infused products.
•
The initial preparation of SOPs can be time-consuming, but the long term return on investment (ROI) is well worth the effort. The benefits of SOPs include the following: minimizing learning downtime, ensuring understanding of the expectations of a role, and ensuring consistency in the performance of duties. Just having well documented procedures will not guarantee excellent performance nor good results. However, SOPs do ensure that you have a structured system and processes in place so that qualified employees and personnel know how to do their job every time.
•
Whether the SOPs are required by law or not, they can provide employees with a framework from how to make edibles to what amendments to use on your plants. So whether you are looking to develop new capabilities or products or looking to revamp your existing compliance and procedural documents, Planet-3 can help with all aspects of SOP drafting and compliance management. Let us know how we can assist you!

Instagram post 2156786749984777485_8344494061 This season's hemp harvest wrapping up, many farmers and landowners with a hemp crop this year have been scrambling to make their deadlines and harvest before their crop turns or worse. With an anemic growing season over the summer and a rapidly cooling winter almost upon us, Montana hemp farmers have had difficulty growing consistent, quality cultivars and maintaining that quality through the processing of the flower. For many of these farmers, this is their first season with hemp and even though many are experienced with alfalfa, potato or even hops, the differences in how cannabis grows and how the flower needs to be handled are very unlike any other cash crop.
•
In our most recent Original Content piece up on the website, we discuss some common mistakes made by first-time hemp growers. What do you think some common mistakes are?
